Geotechnical Engineer 1/19/04 Candidates should have a BS Civil Engineering with 3-5 years experience. EIT Certification PE a major plus

Candidates should be able to:
Analyze data and prepare geotechnical report with recommendations for suitable foundation types, soil bearing capacity, soil reusability, pavement thickness, and groundwater control

Prepare cost proposals


Perform geotechnical subsurface investigations using mud rotary and hollow stem auger techniques with standard penetration testing, rock coring and Shelby tube sampling

Classify soil using the Unified Classification System and United States Department of Agriculture methods through both field and laboratory testing techniques

Identify seasonal high groundwater and restrictive zone for septic system and storm water management designs

Perform in-situ testing including percolation, basin flood, and pit bail tests
Septic system design for commercial and residential developments (i.e. conventional, mounded, soil replacement, and denitrification systems)

Installation of on site sewage disposal bed sand columns in New York City

Perform construction phase testing and inspection (i.e. pile driving, foundation bearing capacity, soil over-excavation and replacement, soil compaction, testing concrete and steel reinforcement for shallow foundations, and geo-foam placement for weight compensated structural mat foundation)
